Winter Bedtime Routine For A Relaxing Rest & An Earlyrise

Create a ritual that helps you get the perfects night sleep, by following these few steps that have helped me.

The secret to a good night's sleep starts and ends with your bedtime time routine.
Let me stipulate exactly what you cannot do before I even start with explaining what you should do.
This really works for me and the days I don't do this, I might as well kiss a good night's rest goodbye.
Don't over stimulate your brain close to bedtime, that means not watching programs that might raise your blood pressure or get you too excited.
Don't eat too close to bedtime
Don't drink fluids too close to bedtime
Don't apply pressure on yourself to go to sleep
Try not to sleep during the day.
How to create an effective night time routine
Set the mood, ambience is everything to signal to the brain that it needs to wind down.

Personal preference will determine how you set up your bedroom, the following elements can be incorporated in any bedroom, these are the pillars that will support your sleep routine and habits.
Your bedroom should be relaxing, this can be facilitated by dim lighting better yet lavender scented candles.
Quality and comfort of mattress and sheets cannot be neglected.
Block the light from outside (this is not a big issue in the northern hemisphere in winter.)
Make sure the room is the right temperature for you; not too hot, not too cold rather just right.
Then lay your pyjamas on the bed while you run a bath or shower, whatever you prefer, the water relaxes your muscles and makes it likely that you will fall asleep quicker.
I remember when my kids where babies whenever they were fussing and couldn't sleep I would give them a warm bath and usually this did the trick.
Same applies to us as adults.
After a nice warm bath take your time to apply a moisturizer to your body preferably while listening to the sleep meditation sounds.
Give yourself a massage if you can.

Just before you jump into bed tidy up your space, write down your priority list for the next day set your alarm and wind down.
Importance of a bedtime routine for adults
Besides the simple fact that a good night's sleep is good for your health, having a sleep time routine will bring about consistency in your sleep pattern.
Thereby allowing your body to relax, rest and rejuvenate, a good rest is one of the most well researched and proven methods that make us more productive at work.

temperature is optimum for you
air quality is the best use humidifiers if necessary
mattress and bedding should be clean and the the best quality you can afford
Living space
Is clean and tidy
Journal
Write down what you need to do the next day so you are not worrying about it
Remember
Tomorrow is a fresh start to correct everything you might have not got right today.
