Now into the review
Talking about Thank you farmer Sun Project Water Sun Cream SPF50+ PA+++ This is a hybrid moisturiser and sunscreen in one. that is also the best one of the sunscreen for dark skin.
Layers well with other products, for an example I would apply my mist/toner, serum and then this particular sunscreen, no need for a moisturiser.
It's not sticky though it leaves a powdery feel in the palm of your hands But not the surface applied.
When applying on dark skin it looks like it will leave a white cast but as you smooth the product on to the skin the blue cool tint completely disappears. It’s formulated using 6 UV filters which makes it a physical sunscreen, the ingredients include African wangu oil, hollyhock root and phyto-oligo which is a patented anti inflammatory ingredient to name but a few.
What you really want to know
I have oily combination skin that easily breaks out. This sunscreen doesn’t break me out.
I even went to bed with it in the name of research but still nothing no breakouts no adverse effects (I don’t recommend going to bed with your sunscreen on).
You know that sunscreen smell that reminds you of your holidays?
Most western sunscreens distinctly smell like that by the way, so most of you will know
what I mean. In this product you can hardly smell it.
Easily the best sunscreen for dark skin that is easily found in the UK
As for dupes This is a great dupe for the krave beauty’s beet the sun no doubt.
You can find it online from £10.45 to about £17 always purchase your skincare products from reputable stores as you never know what you might get.
The final thing I am going to say is this sunscreen makes a great makeup base.
It also leaves your skin dewy and supple with a subtle glow so much so that you might not even need makeup. Get yours from Be mused korea.
What kind of sunscreen is best for dark skin
To answer this question I have to first explain the problems that come with not wearing sunscreen for dark skin, enlarged pores, excess production of melanin resulting in hyperpigmentation and the dreaded fine lines and wrinkles.
Benefits of sunscreen on dark skin
Sunblock will first and foremost tackle the issue of premature ageing, of which the sun is the number one cause.
Hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles will also be minimised by the use of sunscreen.
Then of course more serious health problems (skin cancer) which I will leave to the professionals to go in depth with.
How to avoid white cast from sunscreen
I am yet to find a mineral sunscreen that is not tinted that doesn't give my skin a white cast.
If you know of any please list them below.
Ideally if you are after only mineral sunscreens look for the ones that have a slight tint to offset the white cast.
If you can't find one to match your shade, try mixing it with a foundation or applying your mineral sunscreen as the last step in your daytime routine then top it up with a powder to offset the white cast.
To answer the question what kind of sunscreen is best for dark skin, I have to say for me it has been a broad spectrum sunblock, how it protects your skin is by stopping harmful UV rays getting absorbed into your skin.
Instead It absorbs the UV rays and then releases them as heat which can be irritating for people with sensitive skin, usually the sensitivity shows by feeling a stinging sensation or redness to the skin.
However, chemical sunscreens have other pros they are water-resistant, and contain Ingredients such as octinoxate or avobenzone.
Both of which types are suitable for decreasing your risk of sun damage as long as you choose a product that has at least 30 SPF and is labeled broad-spectrum.
